Experienced counsellor providing support when life is difficult
I am a professional counsellor with over 12 years post qualifying experience. I work in an integrative way. This means I am trained in a variety of approaches and I adapt the approach that I am using to suit your needs.
I provide a calm, safe and supportive environment for you to explore whatever you choose. I am trained in areas including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), solution focused therapy, therapeutic coaching and narrative therapy.
Using a person-centred approach, I follow your needs and work at your pace. I am experienced at working with anxiety, depresssion, stress, burnout and trauma. I’m relaxed and friendly in my approach and work in a lovely garden cabin.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I am also a fully qualified supervisor and work as a supervisor of other counsellors.
Location and fees
My counselling practice is based in Bishopston, on the west side of the Gloucester Road. I work weekdays and evenings (evening slots are currently full), and Saturday mornings. I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation. Fees thereafter are £65 for a 50-minute session.
Fees for supervision are £80 for a 60-minute session with concessionary rates for charitable organisations and counsellors starting up in private practice.
Penny has helped me through a difficult time in my personal life, during which I’ve made some big decisions and changes to my life. In a few weeks I have managed to do what I have been trying to do for years.
I came to Penny with some difficult issues and she was really practical, offering suggestions for techniques that I’ve put into practice. I have found using several CBT techniques particularly helpful for controlling anxiety.
I came to Penny with panic attacks and anxiety because of a difficult time at work. I enjoyed our sessions and found Penny friendly and warm. I’ve learnt a lot about managing my anxiety and continue to work on my self-esteem.
